First Generation

My name is Michael, I’m first generation in agriculture. My goal is to work with the land, build connection, and live with intention. It’s to raise and care for livestock with ethical management and to work the land with a holistic and regenerative approach that gives back to the land, soil and water, while providing families with nutrient dense meat.

It’s about being a part of returning our food system to local farmers and ranchers. It’s about community and bridging the gap between buyer and producer. It’s about us having a connection with what we eat and knowing it was raised with compassion, love and care. It’s about land stewardship and working as a part of the ecosystem rather than against it. It’s about slowing down and paying attention. It’s about thinking small and close to the heart. And It’s about caring deeply for something and working hard towards it.

I look forward to raising food you can share with your family.

Our Practices

Our approach is to think and work with sustainability in mind - will our decisions benefit our animals, the land, and our community.

We are currently managing 26 head of sheep - grazing around a total of 50-60 acres of pasture on two separate properties we lease in New York’s Hudson Valley. We use a holistic approach to our management of both the land and sheep - through intensive grazing and using animal impact to regenerate the soil and feed the life beneath it in addition to making sure we give adequate rest and recovery to those grazed areas before returning. Depending on the time of year we move our flock anywhere between twice a day during the grazing season and every 3-4 days during the dormant season, We strive to do our best in reading and understanding the forage that is ahead of us and how we can appropriately graze to encourage a range of possibilities like plant diversity. root growth, soil biology and much more.

Our sheep live a very natural life, feeding only on what the land provides. They build immunity and resistance to illnesses and parasites through natural exposure and no outside treatments like dewormers, antibiotics or vaccines.

We use these practices to both work as a part of the ecosystem as well as to provide and raise nutrient dense protein for our local community that want to regain a relationship with their food and support regenerative agriculture through enjoying healthy, clean and enriching local food with friends and family.
